Thank you. I just got a return E mail from their VP in charge
of
sales. I was a bit surprised to get a response for some reason.
I want to get something for my lady friend and her daughter.
They
live in a city and the security of these compared to the standard
FRS/GMRs appeals to me. No licensing requirement is also a plus if
these things work.
Do you think eavesdroppers should be a concern?
Similar email to what I got.... except the release date was earlier.

Eavesdroppers *should* be a concern with FRS/GMRS. Never give out
sensitive information on the radio.

I just received an e-mail from the
sales folk at trisquare.us saying the
radios were available at:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=pcmcat123900050003&type=category

Pulling up that url got the order pages for the two radios
(one at $100, one at $140), with the "backordered",
and 1-2 week delivery.

I wonder how big the company is. The marketing guy sent me a
similar email, as promised.
I normally don't like to be among the first to buy a new product but
this will be an exception.

I'm holding off for the moment, but may give in over the weekend.

pros: the psudorandom ISM channel hopppiing has a lot
to recommend it, both for security from casual interception
and (in theory...) interference breakthrough.

It also uses standard AA cells (I'd throw in NiMH) and
has the NOAA channels.

cons: it doesn't have FRS/GRS for cross-compatability, so
everyone would need one of these.
- I'm also annoyed at their price point. The "thousand"
channel unit is $100, the "billion" $140. I suspect
this is the same silliness that [deleted] pulls with
their radios, where the unit is exactly the same but
has a software "cripple" built into the cheaper one.

So I'd have to get at least two just to try it out...

(no idea about volume, audio quality, ergonomics...)

It didn't take long for one to end up on eBay.

I sent an email to the Trisquare marketing guy. It doesn't look
like Best Buy is selling the optional headset. I don't think it would
fitunder a motorcycle helmet even if they did.
I'd like to use the radios as rider to passenger communication. I
wonder what kind or plug in would be needed for the headset. The
ideal setup, I think, maybe, would be the radio hooked up to some
sort of throat mics.

HEY JERK - If you are going to QUOTE something our forefathers said - you
should quote it correctly:

"I have come to the conclusion, that one useless man is a disgrace, two are
a law firm and three are called a congress?" John Adams in the play 1776."

well you are hardly in a postion to give orders

giving orders where you lack the power to enforce them is the act of a
